People refer to “the second full moon of winter” simply as “the second moon of winter”.
Saffodeem
Saffodeem is a joyous holiday celebrated on the first moon of autumn. It is associated with fertility, harvest, and rebirth. Decorations include arts & crafts adorned with reptile imagery.
Celebrated by: Most speakers of common, especially elves, halflings and humans
Traditions include:
- Costume Balls (where people dress as reptiles)
- Playful, non-lethal duels with heavily padded, wooden swords
- Incredibly elaborate cooking of various reptiles for the family feast (Often decorated with sliced almonds for scales, carved carrots for teeth, black olives for eyes, etc.)
- Pranks involving eggs
Celebrations last three nights, representing the past, present, and future.
- The first night is usually more quiet, as the community comes together to remember those who are gone
- The second night is an all-out celebration of thanks for who and what everyone has in their lives currently
- The third night is full of promises, resolutions, and laying of plans for the next year
Flavano
Flavano is a holiday celebrated on the second moon of winter. It is associated with forgiveness and repentance. Celebrations last from dawn until dawn again. Traditions include private exchanges of gifts and releasing from oaths.
