“Sutain” is the name of both the region and its capital. The region is known only for the port city, which is the hub of all trade throughout Remorra.
Centrally located in Remorra (both horizontally and vertically), it has become a shopper’s mecca. It is said that anything can be found in Sutain, for a price.
While it is not without its thieves and unsavory characters, Sutain is surprisingly peaceful considering its diversity. This may be because while merchants aspire to travel to Sutain to sell their wares, gladiators, soldiers and other elite fighters aspire to join Sutain’s esteemed city guard. It is not only considered a great honor and achievement for many men-at-arms, it also pays really well. Undoubtedly, Sutain’s guard force is comprised of the best of the best.
“When our wagon arrived at the top of the cliffs, our eyes were introduced to the largest city we had ever seen. As we gazed over the edge, Sutain stretched out into the ocean like a giant cat’s paw, desperately reaching for distant lands - each digit adorned with countless docks. The city was absolutely massive - probably twenty miles at its widest, each mile practically overflowed with structures and commotion. The giant paw appeared to be riddled with ants, all scurrying in a maddening frenzy of activity - as though the rock over their nest had been overturned. It looked as if the city itself were about to burst and spill out into the ocean. The streets were so traffic-laden that some denizens had taken to the air, in strange balloons and dirigibles. From where we stood atop the city, thick ropes with suspended carts stretched down into the flurry of activity below. Some carts carried passengers, while others delivered crates to the docks where ships waited to export the goods to other lands. The air was heavy with the fragrance of hard work and wet wood. The distant sounds of labor and barter grew tired and softened as they rose up from the salty, smoky atmosphere of the great dock city. (They enter a cart and ride into Sutain) I looked over my shoulder at the retreating cliff. Apparently, as the city had overgrown the land below, construction had continued up the face of the cliff we had just stood on. The buildings that jutted proudly from the wall appeared to be homes - and judging by their upkeep and decoration, the wealthier citizens of Sutain lived there, safe from the dirt and noise below. Our rope disappeared into the heart of a market. As our ride drew toward its end, our senses were tickled by the perfumes, spices and cooked treats for sale beneath us. Our stomachs spoke up, demanding we peruse the stalls where exotic foods were being prepared. Incense, ginger and curry ruled the market air.” - D.
