Saffodeem
Saffodeem is a joyous holiday celebrated on the first full moon of autumn. It is associated with fertility, harvest, and rebirth. Decorations include arts & crafts adorned with reptile imagery.
Traditions include:
- Costume Balls (where people dress as reptiles)
- Playful, non-lethal duels with heavily padded, wooden swords
- Incredibly elaborate cooking of various reptiles for the family feast (Often decorated with sliced almonds for scales, carved carrots for teeth, black olives for eyes, etc.)
- Pranks involving eggs
Celebrations last three nights, representing the past, present, and future.
- The first night is usually more quiet, as the community comes together to remember those who are gone
- The second night is an all-out celebration of thanks for who and what everyone has in their lives currently
- The third night is full of promises, resolutions, and laying of plans for the next year
