Once upon a time there was a lord of a town in Sutain named Lord Alden Kefall. He had inherited his land and title from his father, and while the noble life suited him he had always one desire which remained unfulfilled – to be a famous chef. He would practice every day, inventing new dishes and insisting his servants and friends sampled them. The only problem was Lord Kefall was not a very good chef. His menu consisted of things like Soil and Kidney Pie, Goblin Snot Filled Cupcakes, Eagle Feather Sandwich, and Bugbear Back-Hair Souffle.

However, being a noble, Lord Kefall was always surrounded by sycophants that encouraged him in this and offered little criticism. When his father passed away, Lord Kefall decided to use his considerable means to build a restaurant – a very special restaurant where only those worthy of his genius would be able to dine. He constructed this restaurant in a dungeon complex in western Sutain – a place difficult to get to due to the local wildlife and nearby goblin tribes. To help him with this he contracted the services of a young wizard named Seydou Waldomar.

Eventually, a group of deep gnomes would hear of the place through a text they discovered in a drow stronghold. The text referred to it as Kefall’s Kitchen. According to the text, Alden was known as “The Mad Chef” and set up his special kitchen in the dungeon, claiming anyone worthy of cuisine must prove it first. He stocked it fully with expensive dishware, treasured artworks, and the finest ingredients known to man. Since no one could handle things as well as he could, he asked Waldomar to use a very special clone spell on him, creating several less-intelligent replicas to run the place. Unfortunately, he evidently died springing a trap in his own dungeon upon his very first visit, and the kitchen never served a single customer.
